This book constitutes the culmination of long-term artistic work with the members of a large family of Gypsy Travelers established in the center and west of France. For four years, Georges Pacheco, photographer, and Estelle Granet, author, traveled across five departments in the footsteps of the descendants of an emblematic couple, Émile Duville, known as Didi, and his wife Eugénie, known as Canette. In a caravan transformed into a traveling photo studio, they invited family members to pose for a portrait, share their story and discuss their family albums.
MĀNOUCHES is intended to be a presentation in images and words of the history and present of a long line of Travelers.
