This photographic project on Velle de Scampia, a district of Naples made famous by the Gomorra series, was born from the meeting of Belgian photographer Olivier Galicis with a former member of the Camorra, Davide Cerullo.
After a long period of incarceration, Davide Cerullo became a writer-educator and has invested a lot of time in his neighbourhood, where he takes care of children. He has opened a library, a games library and is fighting with others to change the image conveyed by the famous TV series. "Scampia non solo Gomorra": Scampia is not only Gomorra. This neighbourhood is one of the poorest in Italy. For those born there, the probability of passing the age of 25 is 40%. Endemic unemployment pushes young people into moonlighting or - in most cases - into drug trafficking: Scampia is considered Europe's largest retail drug supermarket.
